454 GRANVILLE STREET |
Prince Edward Island Tourism Region : Red Sands Shore
Description From Owner:
- The point extends into Dunk River and is named for Alexander McDonald. His father, Capt. Allan McDonald, purchased 4,046 hectares (10,000 acres) of land from Sir Alexander Campbell in 1774, intending to settle here.
- He was drowned while crossing from the Isle of Skye to the mainland. When Alexander came to PEI he sold and gave away most of the land. In 1798 Angus and Ronald McDonald were heads of families in this area.
