Description From Owner:
- This is a man-made pond that dates from the mid-1700s. It was the site of an early grist mill and is named for John Squire Lord who owned it in the 1840s.
- In 1880 Archibald and Philip Lord operated grist, saw and shingle mills here. Charles Ives bought the mill in 1913 and added a small electric power plant.
