Description From Owner:
- Named for Samuel Johannes Holland (1728- 1801), appointed Surveyor General of North America north of Virginia in 1764.
- Because of the importance of the fishery he was instructed to start his survey with PEI. He built a house here on the cove he called Observation Cove and started his survey in 1765.
- Prior to Holland's arrival the cove had been known as l'Ance a sanglier 'Wild Boar Cove.'
