Description From Owner:
  • The cape juts into Northumberland Strait N of Miminegash.
  • Named by Samuel Holland in 1765 for General Thomas Gage (1721-1787) commander-in-chief of British forces in North America from 1763-72.
  • Earlier names were Mossy Point and McInnis Point. This area of coastline is one of the best sources of Irish moss.
