Village incorporated 1955 in Lot 27. Probably named for Kincora near Killaloe, Ireland. Formerly called Somerset as school district name. Settled from Ireland c1841. P.O. Somerset 1867-1887; P.O. Kinkora from 1887.
In Meacham is the statement that it was better known as South West in 1880, but this more properly applied to Middleton.
