Description From Owner:
- 2 mi E of Borden in Lot 28. Derived from the former name of Borden Point and from Carleton Cove to the north of Borden Point. P.O. Carleton 1870-1913; P.O. Carleton Siding from 1925. Douglas 1925 Carleton Corner.
- This name results from the incorporation in 1995 of the villages of Borden and Carleton. Borden, which fronts on Northumberland Strait, was established in 1917 as a ferry terminal between the Island and Cape Tormentine, NB.
- It was named for Sir Robert Borden (1854- 1937) then prime minister of Canada. Borden replaced the earlier name of Carleton Point. Carleton is N of Borden, adjacent to Seven Mile Bay.
- It was named for General Sir Guy Carleton (1724-1808) who was governor of Canada from 1767-78 and 1786-96.
