Adjacent to Northumberland Strait, SW of Tryon, Lot 28.
Named by Samuel Holland 1765, probably for Richard Cumberland (1732-1811), the dramatist, who was well known to Holland from his position at the Board of Trade as private secretary to Lord Halifax and Crown agent for NS.
Holland also named Cumberland Point on the east side of the cove but, being unknown, it has been rescinded.
