Tryon, Cape: Extends into Gulf of St. Law rance, Lot 21. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for William Tryon (1725-1788).
Tryon Head: Extends into Northumberland Strait, Lot 28. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for William Tryon (1725-1788) under whom Holland served, and who later became Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina. Also called Leards Point and Sandy Point.
Tryon River: Flows S into Northumberland Strait, Lot 28. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for William Tryon (1725-1788). De la Roque 1752 and Pichon 1760 rivière des Blonds. Wright and Derbage 1793 has Good Wood Brook for East Branch Tryon River.
In Micmac Tulesipk, meaning unknown (Rand) or Tlaiang, 'shirt' (Pacifique). Holland also named Tryon Cove at the river's mouth, but it is not in use.
