- 3 mi E of Borden in Lot 28. Bells Point in Cape Traverse was used by the French as the PEI terminus for crossing to the mainland.
- Holland 1765 and later maps applied the name Cape Traverse to Bells Point. P.O. Cape Traverse c1841-1892 and 1905-1930; also P.O. Lansdowne Hotel 1888-1905. Cape Traverse Cove and Cape Traverse Landing are adjacent features.
- The name derives from the point being the closest part of the Island to the mainland. In the community of Cape Traverse is a National Historic Monument commemorating the iceboat service that was the only winter link to the mainland from 1827-1917.
- Nearby are Cape Traverse Cove, Cape Traverse Landing and Cape Traverse River. The river flows S into Northumberland Strait at Amherst Cove.
