Description From Owner:
- 4 mi N of Borden in Lot 27. Named for James Searle Mann who lived there when the name was given.
- His grandfather, James Searle, had been given the northern half of Lot 27 in 1767, and on his death in 1828, it passed to his daughter, Mrs. Horatio Mann, who was then living in Philadelphia.
- James Searle Mann petitioned to become a British subject in 1855. JHA 1843 Searle Town. P.O. 1856-1913. A section is called Truemans Corner for Hiram Trueman who settled there 1854.
