- 7 mi NE of Souris in Lot 46. School established c1846, later becoming East Baltic when West Baltic school area set up 2 mi W in Glencorradale. P.O. East Baltic 1877-1970. Settled 1842. Formerly called Irish Baltic
- Robert Douglas suggests in his 1925 book the name may date from the Napoleonic Wars when Baltic ports were closed to British commerce and a heavy export timber trade developed in the Maritimes.
