  • 8 mi SW of Souris in Lot 56. School district c1880. P.O. Sailor's Hope 1884-1913.
  • The bay was named by Samuel Holland in 1765 for Sir William Howe (1729-1814), 5th Viscount Howe, Commander-in-Chief in America in 1755 under whom Holland had served during the Seven Years War, 1756-63.
  • Howe later played a major role in the American Revolutionary War at the 1755 Battle of Bunker Hill and in the capture of New York.
