- 15 mi SW of Montague in Belfast, Lot 58. P.O. 1877-1918. Holland 1765 Pinet; Map 1794 Perth Village.
- During the French colonial period the name was Anse à Pinette or Pinet. In 1787 while touring the island, Lt.-Gov. Edmund Fanning (1739-1818) camped here and noted the place had been a 'considerable French settlement.'
- The river is named for Nöel Pinet who was born in Acadia in 1683, married Rose Henry at Grand Pré in 1710 and then settled here.
