Prince Edward Island Tourism Region : Points East Coastal Drive
Description From Owner:
- 11 mi SE of Charlottetown in Lots 49 and 50. P.O. 1860-1967. Named for the estate of Joseph Beers, which he established in 1785 after having served with a garrison at Charlottetown for two years.
- According to Macqueen (1957, p. 81) it was named by James Lewis Hayden for Cherry Valley near Otsego, New York.
- The grandson of Mr. Beers believed that there also was a place of the same name in Devonshire, England. Known to the French as Marguerite.
