8 mi E of Charlottetown in Lot 48. School district c1862 Albion. P.O. 1875-1913. Formerly called Burnt Hill for a great fire that swept the area c1820 - c1833. Formerly called Raasa, and also once called Scrabble.
The name is the ancient poetic designation for Britain which is derived from the latin 'albus' for the white or light-coloured cliffs characteristic of the S coast of England.
