  • Village incorporated 1965 in Lots 17 and 19 on N side of Wilmot River. Meacham 1880 Wilmot District and Wilmot Creek.
  • Wilmot River: Flows W into Bedeque Bay, Lots 17 and 19. Samuel Holland 1765 named Wilmot Cove there for Montague Wilmot, Governor of NS 1764-1766
  • The name of Dutch-born Capt. Samuel Holland (1728-1801) crops up frequently in this book. That's because as Surveyor General of British North America he dished out 191 names for geographic features on the Island during his 1765 survey.
  • Bayfield 1849 Wilmot River; Meacham 1880 and JHA 1838 Wilmot Creek.
