Description From Owner:
  • Extends into Gulf of St. Law rence in Lot 3. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for James, 20th Earl of Kildare (1722-1773), a son-in-law of Charles Lennox, Duke of Richmond.
  • Kildare Capes is a name of a series of capes in the same area.
  • In 1534 Jacques Cartier had named the cape cap d'Orléans and described it as 'a very fine headland.' Point Kildare is adjacent and the Kildare River flows into the Alberton Harbour at Kildare Point.
