- N of Tignish in Lot 1. Tradition has it named for nails found after a shipwreck c1825.
- Because “Neal's' is on some early references Douglas 1925 suggests that it is probably for a person by that name.
- A family by the name of Noil of Dutch origin, which had become Acadianized, settled in PEI during its early history.
- In 1833 a petition was presented to the House of Assembly praying for a road from 'Neal's pond' towards Cascumpec and Hillstown.
