8555 CAVENDISH RD |
Prince Edward Island Tourism Region : Green Gables Shore
Description From Owner:
- In PEI National Park at Cavendish, Lot 23. Derived from Lucy Maud Montgomery's 'Anne of Green Gables”. Formerly called Makems Pond.
- The lake was once called Cavendish Pond and its location may be a case of mistaken identity.
- The lake figures often in Lucy Maud Montgomery's novels and of which she wrote in 1917:
- 'The Lake of Shining Waters is generally supposed to be Cavendish Pond. This is not so. The pond I had in mind is at Park Corner, below Uncle John Campbell's home.'
- With permission from 'Prince Edward Island Place Names' David E. Scott 2011
