Prince Edward Island Tourism Region : Green Gables Shore
Description From Owner:
- This area was granted in 1775 to James Townshend for military services. He called the estate Park Corner after his former home in Berkshire, England.
- Lucy Maud Montgomery was a descendant of James Townshend and a frequent visitor at the Park Corner home of her grandfather, Sen. Donald Montgomery (1808-39) and her uncle, John Campbell (1833-1917).
- In her writings she named the Campbell homestead Silverbush and Campbells Pond became the Lake of Shining Waters. The Anne of Green Gables Museum is located in the Campbell home.
