Community on S side of Hills borough River opposite Charlottetown. P.O. 1860-1967.
Formerly known as Hillsborough Ferry and Charlottetown Ferry. Meacham 1880 Southport or Stratford. Stratford was a school district near Rosebank 1858. Glen Stewart is in Meacham 1880 and in JHA 1877 for section adjacent to the present Catholic church.
Douglas 1925 notes Hopeton as another name used in the area.
