Village incorporated 1960 in Charlottetown Royalty. Derived from Sherwood Farm in Lot 33 where Charlottetown Cemetery was established before 1880 (Meacham), and which became Sherwood Cemetery in 1891.
About the same time Central Royalty school, established 1866, was moved and enlarged. P.O. Sherwood Station 1910-1912.
